Our designs are inspired by 19th century textiles of Eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland). It’s our passion to produce custom fabric for designers, museums and individuals wanting distinctive fabrics. Using a small scale textile production model, as inspired by 19th century Ontario cottage weavers, we endeavor to produce textiles by hand in a sustainable manner using locally sourced and processed fibre. We partner with mills, dyers, designers and tailors with a passion for making quality textiles that stand the test of time. Learn more about our supply chain here.
Upper Canada Weaving was founded in 2010 by Deborah Livingston-Lowe to reproduce 19th century Ontario textiles such as coverlets, rag carpets and linens. Since that time, we have expanded our production in innovative and exciting ways. We collaborate with fashion designers to create unique fabrics tailor made for their garment collections. We work directly with sheep, alpaca and mohair goat farmers from the Ontario Fibreshed to bring their fibre to a wider audience.
